Chapter 1: How You Approach Life and How You Appear To Others
Virgo Rising:
Modest, unobtrusive, and often rather quiet or shy, you are a person who
is content to be in the background or to serve as an assistant, in the
supporting role rather than in the lead. You are quite humble in your
own assessment of yourself and you have a very strong perfectionistic
attitude, with a tendency to be overly self-critical. No matter how well
you do something, you always see the flaws in it and how it could be
improved. Often you will simply refuse to attempt something because you
feel you cannot meet your own high standards.
You have an eye for detail and get upset when something is not done just
so, usually something others consider rather inconsequential or trivial.
You are hard to please and your relationships with others may suffer
because of this. You also have refined sensitivities and are very
discriminating and particular in your choice of foods, clothes, friends,
artwork, etc. Order in your environment is very important to you.
You step into situations rather cautiously, and not without
realistically assessing all of the risks and potential advantages
involved. Unless something is a safe bet, you are unlikely to dive into
it. You tend to underestimate your own capacities and to lack confidence
and trust in life, which inhibits your spontaneity. Worrying is a bad
habit of yours. On the other hand, you rarely fall flat on your face and
what you do, you do very well.
Others see you as a self-sufficient and rather self-contained person.
You have a strong sense of propriety. Politeness, good manners, and
correct behavior are important to you. Your clear, cool, objective and
nonemotional attitude is apparent to others first, and though you are
really quite helpful and caring, you do not radiate much sympathy so
that others may not see the helpful side as readily. You may seem more
businesslike and factual, and also more conservative, than you really
are at heart. You are the person others might go to for technical advice
or an unbiased opinion, but not for emotional support.
You are keenly observant, intelligent, and have a great desire for
learning and for self-improvement, but you are not especially ambitious
and are often satisfied in a rather simple, unglamorous position in
life.
Chapter 2: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation
Sun in Cancer:
You have powerful emotional attachments to the past, your family, your
childhood, those places you associate with safety and security and your
beginnings. Maintaining a connection with your roots and heritage and
keeping family bonds strong are very important to you. Loyal, devoted,
and sentimental, you tend to cling to whatever is dear to you, be it
person, familiar place, or cherished possession.
You are sympathetic, nurturing, supportive, and very sensitive to the
emotional needs of other people. You like to be needed, to care for
others, and you often worry about the people you love. You have a very
strong need for a sense of belonging and acceptance, and you center much
of your life around your home. You are more concerned about people and
their feelings than with power, achievement, or position in society.
Kindness, consideration, and tenderness impress you more than any sort
of honor the world can bestow.
You are primarily emotional and your views are often dominated by your
feelings and by your own personal, subjective experiences, rather than
reason, logic, or abstract principles. It is difficult for you to judge
situations in a fair, objective manner for your personal sympathies and
loyalties usually enter in. You take things very personally, and
sometimes build a wall around yourself to protect yourself from pain and
rejection. You feel rather shy and vulnerable at heart. You also tend to
be moody, experiencing frequent emotional ups and downs. You need to
have a place and time in your life to withdraw, introspect, dream, and
replenish yourself; otherwise you become cranky and unhappy with those
around you.
You function in an instinctive, nonrational manner and like to immerse
yourself in creative activities where you can express your feelings,
imagination, and instincts. You often love to cook, since it can be both
creative and a way to nurture and nourish others. You also have a great
affinity for music, because it evokes and communicates feelings that may
be difficult or impossible to put into words.
Your compassion, sensitivity, and imagination are your strong points.
Your faults include an inability to release the past and go forward,
clannishness and prejudice, and a tendency to be self-pitying when you
meet hardships in life.
Sun in 10th house:
Your career, reputation, and public image are very important to you. You
have a strong desire to be influential or make your mark on the world.
The merely personal sphere does not satisfy you; your ambitions include
making a major contribution and receiving broad recognition for your
unique effort and gifts. You may undervalue the personal or inner side
of life.
Chapter 3: Mental Interests and Abilities
Mercury in Gemini:
You have an extremely active, lively and versatile mind with a multitude
of interests and an inexhaustible curiosity about life. You are quick to
grasp new concepts and equally quick to lose interest in an idea or
project once your curiosity has been satisfied. You like to taste a
little bit of everything - concentration and disciplined study are not
your strong points. Mentally restless, you may change jobs or locations
frequently, or do work that involves movement, travel, and variety.
You have a flair for language, playing with words, speaking, writing, or
teaching in an entertaining and informative way. You also enjoy meeting
new people, conversing and learning a little bit about them, and you
work well with the public.
Sales, advertising, communications, journalism, or public relations are
good areas for you. Your ability to be articulate and to communicate
well is one of your greatest strengths.
Mercury in 9th house:
You have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and wisdom and for an ever
broadening understanding of life. You are the perpetual student and will
be involved in higher education, philosophy, or religion. Law,
broadcasting, publishing, or the field of communications are also areas
that interest you. World travel and studying other cultures are also
strong urges of yours.
Mercury Square Mars:
Argumentative and rather aggressive and critical in discussions, you
tend to turn any conversation into a debate, and sometimes a verbal war.
You could be a spokesman for a righteous cause, a lawyer vigorously
defending a client, a sharp analyst or critic. You are a convincing
speaker, but are not especially receptive to the ideas and opinions of
others. You have a forceful intellect and an aptitude for mental work.
Moon Trine Mercury:
You would be an excellent teacher or counselor for you listen
sympathetically, and encourage others to express their inner thoughts
and feelings. People trust and confide in you, and you are able to read
between the lines and to sense what their feelings are as well as what
they are saying. You work well with and understand women, and the
emotional, feminine side of life. You are articulate on personal (rather
than factual or technical) subjects. Keeping a diary or journal would be
satisfying for you. You also have a talent for learning languages.
Chapter 4: Emotions: Moods, Feelings, Romance
Moon in Aquarius:
You are not easily moved by emotional displays and can be curiously
detached from your own and others' emotions. It's almost as if you could
turn your feelings on and off at will so you should be careful not to
leave the switch "off" too often, for you could easily become too
impersonal. Family ties and attachments are not as important to you as
they are to most people and you often consider your friends closer to
you than your blood relatives. Certainly, your sympathy and concern
extends much beyond your immediate family. In your personal
relationships, you insist upon a certain amount of independence and the
freedom to pursue friendships with as many people, of both sexes, as you
choose. You do not appreciate a jealous, possessive partner.
You feel comfortable in an atmosphere that is open and experimental, and
you have little taste for convention and tradition.
Moon in 5th house:
You are emotionally expressive and often dramatize your feelings, acting
them out or blowing them out of proportion. You can not hide your
instinctive emotional reactions to people or situations, and you don't
make any pretenses about your personal sympathies or antipathies.
You have a childlike openness and playfulness which is very appealing to
others, but which sometimes gets you into trouble, as you take risks on
impulse or whim.
Venus in Gemini:
In love, you are more interested in a person's sense of humor and
intelligence than in their physique. You like a partner who is mentally
alive and who keeps you guessing a little bit, and you become restless
and bored with someone who never asks questions, never changes or
surprises you. Talking, sharing ideas, going places together, and
learning new things together is very important to your happiness. You
need lots of social stimulation, are something of a flirt, and like to
have many friends of both sexes. A possessive, jealous partner is very
stifling for you.
Venus in 10th house:
Promoting beauty, the arts, or entertainment can make you very happy.
You want to contribute something positive and loving to the world at
large and you want to be recognized for your beauty, artistic gifts, or
loving generosity. You may "marry" your work - that is, be more involved
in your career than in your private life. You are a natural hostess or
diplomat.
Venus Trine Neptune:
Sensitive and compassionate, you tend to be the "giver" in any
relationship. You have high ideals and a refined attitude towards love,
seeking to relate in ways that are beyond ego needs and selfishness. You
are attracted to people with artistic or mystical inclinations.
Venus Sextile Jupiter:
You appreciate beautiful surroundings and congenial company, and though
you enjoy helping people, you will rarely put yourself out too much in
order to do so. You are good-humored and generous at heart but inclined
to be lazy.
Venus Sextile Pluto:
You love deeply, passionately, and wholeheartedly, and others may find
your intensity either extremely attractive or threatening. You are
charismatic and can have a powerful emotional influence on others,
especially those of the opposite sex. You may use your attractiveness to
manipulate others, sometimes without even realizing it.
Chapter 5: Drive and Ambition: How You Achieve Your Goals
Mars in Pisces:
You are noncombative, noncompetitive, and something of a pacifist. You
will give something up rather than fight for it. You may seem
weak-willed or ineffectual, for you do not have a strong ego drive for
personal achievement and material advantage, or for winning at the
expense of someone else. Being first, being best, being on top doesn't
mean much to you, and you can be quite happy in a supporting role,
working for the benefit of others or for a cause that you believe in.
You are gentle and impressionable and are motivated by less mundane and
less tangible things than most other people. You may have difficulty
formulating clear, definite goals for yourself and making your way in
the world. You have many dreams, high ideals, and a strong mystical or
religious impulse. You also have a creative imagination and can
successfully apply yourself to art or music. You have a sensitive
physique and need to maintain good regular health habits in order build
strength and stamina.
Mars in 6th house:
You expect to work hard for anything you accomplish and you have no
patience for people who don't pull their own weight. Work is a passion
for you at times, and you push yourself too hard. You can be too
demanding of the people you work with also.
If your energy is not invested in a job or career, you can become a
fanatic about your health, and you may exercise or "work out" vigorously
and perhaps excessively.
Chapter 6: Other Influences
Jupiter in Leo:
You cannot tolerate smallness or pettiness in any form, and you have a
tendency to exaggerate. Also, you have a wonderful sense of drama! You
must live boldly and heroically. Otherwise you feel you are simply
existing and wasting your talents.
The desire for personal recognition - or even Fame - and a need to do
something you feel really proud of, motivate you strongly. You have an
unusual capacity for fun and playfulness also.
Jupiter in 12th house:
You are drawn to social work, the ministry, giving your time and energy
to charitable organizations, or to serving and helping the disadvantaged
in some way. Your generosity and unselfishness will bring you and others
much good.
Jupiter Conjunct Pluto:
You aim high and strive to position yourself in a manner that will
ensure success. You are not above joining organizations or rubbing
elbows with others primarily for the opportunities and social status
that they confer on you. You abhor pettiness and your broad perspective
and vision incline you to an influential and successful position in
life.
Jupiter Square Saturn:
You have an inner conflict between idealism, hope, and faith in the
future versus doubt and oppression by limitations and practical
realities. You need to develop discipline and patience in order to
achieve your aspirations. You will grow by learning to accept
frustration and to persevere in spite of obstacles.
Jupiter Sextile Neptune:
You have a great, wide-open sense of possibilities which allows
extraordinary, even miraculous events to come into your life. A sense of
divine grace, of being part of the flow of the universe, of communing
with celestial realms or Beings, are all very natural to you. At the
same time, you're not apt to go to extremes or lose your sense of
perspective. You are also quite altruistic and giving, and ready to aid
less fortunate people. A sense of gratitude and spiritual wealth is one
of your finest attributes.
Saturn in Scorpio:
You both yearn for, and fear, being emotionally vulnerable with others
and experiencing deep emotional intimacy. Trusting others and letting
yourself be known in a deep way doesn't come easily to you, and sexual
inhibitions may result from this. You are very self-protective and may
be compulsively secretive. Learning to relinquish control in personal
relationships, and to be completely open, are important tasks for you.
Saturn in 3rd house:
You are serious-minded and may have difficulty making light social
conversation or participating in friendly, personal interchanges.
You try to be strictly accurate and are critical of people who
exaggerate or talk on subjects they really know little about. You
withhold your thoughts and opinions until you have thought everything
through quite thoroughly, and sometimes your silence discomforts others.
Your mental concentration is very good but your breadth of understanding
may not be.
Saturn Square Pluto:
Once you decide what you want to do, you will pursue it tenaciously and,
if necessary, sacrifice a great deal for your deeply felt convictions.
This trait tends to make you feel a little out of step with others. You
take things a little more seriously and have an inclination to be a bit
of a fanatic, although probably not flamboyantly so, so others may not
know how deeply you feel and how driven you are about the things that
are important to you. You have a deep inner resolve and are willing to
struggle to do the things that are really meaningful to you, rather than
follow an easier but less meaningful course in life.
Saturn Trine Uranus:
You have a talent and ability for putting fresh ideas and inspiration
into practice. You are ready and willing to utilize new ideas and
methods, and you have a knack for gaining acceptance for a new idea and
practically implementing it.
Uranus in Leo:
You are part of a 7 year group of people who are unusually self-willed,
proud, and egotistical. You are a group that defies authority and
insists on having its own way. Parents and school teachers found that it
was extremely difficult to discipline your age group. Governments that
are repressive to individual expression and freedom meet a great deal of
resistance from your age group, and you tend to rise up against any form
of tyranny and oppressive rule.
Uranus in 11th house:
You have unusual, even eccentric friends, and you are likely to join
groups, communities, organizations, or clubs which promote progressive
or unconventional ideas, social change, or innovation in some form. You
are dynamic and creative in business affairs and in organizations.
Uranus Square Neptune:
You were also born during a period that lasted approximately 5 years and
is characterized by an unusually high degree of imagination and
sensitivity. You are part of a group of people who are very inspired but
also unstable. The bizarre and unusual are standard fare among your age
group. Your generation also inspires intense political movements that
are often fanatical or unreasonable in their goals.
Neptune in Libra:
You are part of a 14 year group of people who have a very idealistic
sense of brotherhood and universal cooperation, which, among other
things, fostered the peace and freedom movement. Your age group is also
interested in the spiritual philosophy and ideals of other cultures, and
is not at all dogmatic in its approach to religion. You incorporate the
approaches of other religions. Your age group tends to have an eclectic
approach to religion, utilizing elements from many religious
perspectives (e.g. Eastern and Western), and finds it difficult to
follow traditionally defined religious practices.
A gullibility and an unwillingness to be decisive and judgmental
inclines your age group to be easily deceived, and consequently many of
the well-intended ideals and goals are frustrated by a lack of clear
purpose and direction.
Neptune in 2nd house:
You may have a great deal of confusion over money, financial matters,
and ownership. Perhaps these things mean very little to you. Or possibly
you simply don't know how to deal with them in a realistic, effective
way.
Also, you may make your living through artistic, musical, or highly
imaginative endeavors.
Neptune Sextile Pluto:
The entire generation to which you belong has tremendous opportunities
for spiritual rebirth and awakening. This will not be forced upon you or
precipitated by unavoidable events, rather it comes from an inner
yearning and a natural propensity to seek the depths.
Pluto in Leo:
You are part of a 20 year period that is often referred to as the "ME"
generation, a generation that has a very proud and self-reliant
attitude. You are a generation that is very concerned with
self-development and personal integrity. Women's rights and minority
rights are issues that your generation has fostered and they reflect
your concern with individual respect, integrity, and honor. Your age
group has a deeply felt sense that each person has an equal right and
opportunity to fully develop his or her inner potential.
However, your group also finds it difficult to be part of a team and a
strong egotism makes group efforts difficult; you tend to see the
individual as more important than the group. You also defy authority and
often feel that no one has the right to tell you what to do. The strong
movement to refuse drafting into the military is one example of your age
group's strong sense of individual rights and freedom.
Your age group has popularized the idea of self-development, and has
contributed a great deal to the development of individual potential as
well as human rights. However, there is also a tendency to be rather
self-centered; others may wonder how you can spend so much time
developing yourselves and have so little time to contribute to your
families!
The interest in personal development also sometimes manifests as a
fascination with particular individuals and a great deal of hero
worship. Every generation, of course, has lots of idols, but your
generation is particularly prone to needing a specific individual to
represent and embody an idea or feeling, and to serve as a focal point
of interest. Perhaps the most extreme example of this is the concept of
the guru that was popularized by your age group.
Pluto in 12th house:
You have a deep interest in secrets, the underworld or unconscious, and
anything hidden and mysterious. Psychoanalysis, investigating your
dreams, and other methods of uncovering secrets are very interesting to
you. You may be exceptionally perceptive intuitively or psychically.
Your emotions and subconscious energies are complex, and periodic
transformations and personal crises are sprinkled liberally throughout
your lifetime.
